A heart-stopping video captures the moment a van hurtles towards a car on the wrong side of the road.

The terrifying footage, which was shot on a dashcam by Harriet Nelson on the busy A2070 just outside Ashford, shows a white Peugeot Bipper narrowly avoiding an oncoming car.

Miss Nelson, who was travelling towards Ashford, captured the video just before 4.30pm today on the approach to Hamstreet.

The driver of the Peugeot was trying to overtake another van when they had to slam on their brakes to avoid the head-on impact.

Miss Nelson said: "It was so close I thought they were going to crash.

"Luckily the driver of the car managed to move out of the way or someone would have died.

"To put the van's speed into perspective, I was going at 56mph."

Miss Nelson managed to get the vehicle's number plate and has reported the incident to the police.

She added: "The van driver thought it would be a brilliant idea to almost cause an accident.

"Why does everyone rush so much to be somewhere?
