A wanted man who was spotted in Kent two days after a fatal stabbing in London has been charged with murder.
Shane O'Brien, who was wanted in connection with the murder of Josh Hanson, 21, was placed on Interpol’s World’s Most Wanted List last May.
He was arrested in Romania at the end of last month.
Mr Hanson was fatally stabbed at a bar in west London, on October 11, 2015.
The day after the attack, O’Brien was spotted in Camber Sands in East Sussex.
Then on October 13, 2015, he was seen in Ashford at the Designer Outlet Centre in Kimberley Way buying clothes.
O’Brien fled the country on a private plane immediately after the killing, according to Scotland Yard.
The 31-year-old was charged on Friday, 5 April following his return to the United Kingdom from Romania.
He appeared yesterday in custody at Westminster Magistrates' Court, and is now due to appear in custody at the Old Bailey on Tuesday this week.
A statement issued by the Met Police last month said: "Shane O'Brien, 31, has today, Saturday, March 23, been detained by authorities in Romania.
"He is subject to a European Arrest Warrant on behalf of the Metropolitan Police Service.
"This relates to an investigation launched in 2015 by detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command after the murder of Josh Hanson.
"The process will now begin in relation to O'Brien's extradition back to the United Kingdom.
"Josh's family have been kept fully up to date with developments."
