Ashford’s war memorial is being refurbished ahead of the First World War centenary remembrance service in November.
Scaffolding has been erected around the monument in the Memorial Gardens as month-long works begin to spruce up the stone piece.
The Ashford Borough Council effort is part of the ongoing maintenance of the Memorial Gardens in preparation for the events that will be taking place on Sunday, November 11, which will mark the 100th anniversary of the Armistice.
Residents of nearby Leslie Chalk House and the Royal British Legion have been consulted about the renovation via letter.
The work includes the replacement of several bronze plaques in addition to the annual cleanse.
