Last night's heavy rainfall has left several gardens, homes and roads in Ashford flooded.

Police were called to Boys Hall Road, in Willesborough, at 9am after a car broke down, causing slight delays in the area.

Officers attended and said that the vehicle had driven through a large puddle prior to breaking down.

The Stour Cantre car park, in Tannery Lane, has also flooded, with the borough council asking visitors to use the nearby Dover Place car park instead.

The Asda footpath is also severely flooded again, and is currently impassable.

The path, which runs under the railway tracks and acts as a shortcut from the Kimberley Way supermarket to Newtown, has disappeared under a river of dirty rain water.

Judy and Kevan Barrett's garden in Stumble Lane, Kingsnorth, is flooded for the third time in two months.

Mrs Barrett says she is worried the water will soon enter their home.

She said: “I’m worried because the water is inching closer to the garage where my husband and son’s racing bikes are kept.

"If it does get worse, it could cause thousands of pounds of damage.

“Something must have changed. We bought this house because it was not at risk of flooding but now, in the last few months, the slightest hint of rain and we’re under water again.

"It is very distressing.”

Water has also invaded two homes in High Halden.

Dudley Mallett, of Ashford Rod, says his house and his 97-year-old neighbour's home, have flooded following last night and this morning's heavy rain.

He said: "The water is now under the kitchen floorboards."

He also has around 30 inches of water in his garden.

Huge puddles also line the A28, close to The Old Mill pub, and the garden of a residential home in Cudworth Road, Willesborough, is also swamped.

Flood warnings were issued across Kent last night when rain and winds of more than 70mph battered the county.

Operation Stack was put in place last night, but has since been removed this morning.
