Could it be Ashford's latest pavement art installation? Perhaps a giant snail has moved into town?

Bizarre brown marks have been spotted running from the top of North Street to the bottom of the High Street.

But it's not another £100,000 creative project for the town centre, it's actually an oil trail left behind by a road sweeper!

This morning, a street cleaner failed to notice he was leaking hydraulic oil across the roads he was actually meant to be cleaning.

A Kent County Council (KCC) incident response van was spotted in the town centre this afternoon.

Workers spent a few hours spreading sand and grit on the discarded oil.
