William Harvey Hospital food sparks debate

Fierce debate has been prompted over the state of food at the William
Harvey, following a story in last week’s Kentish Express.
We reported how Tom Wratten, 72, of Brabourne, had complained to the
hospital’s food supplier Serco Group Plc, saying his wife Jean was served inedible food during her three-day stay at the Ashford hospital.
Responses from readers have flooded in, as people shared their views on the food they were served while in the hospital.
Sisters Maureen and Lily Bowles read the story and told us about their experience with “disgusting” food, when both were hospitalised in December last year.
Maureen added: “I was admitted to the hospital overnight with bronchitis, and was served a chicken casserole. It was absolutely disgusting."
“It was like aeroplane food of the worst kind."

While the vast majority who contacted us were critical of the hospital’s food, not everyone agreed.
Roger Rawlings said that during his stay over the New Year week, the food was good.
He added: “I spent the whole of New Year’s week in the William Harvey Hospital and I cannot fault the care given to me, from the tea ladies, food
presenters, nurses, up to consultants."
