A 73-year-old woman was killed when the car she was driving was in collision with a van in Charing.

The accident happened on Canterbury Road, Charing, which had to be closed by police for four hours while the Serious Crash Investigation (SIU) officers attended the scene.

The incident happened at 10.31am on Wednesday between the top of Charing Hill and Challock gliding club.

The woman was driving a Citroen Xsara. The driver of the Ford Escort van was treated for minor injuries at the William Harvey Hospital.
