An Ashford woman was taken to hospital after a fire in her spare bedroom last night.
The woman, in her 40s, was woken up by a loud bang caused by a kettle left to boil dry.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service sent one pump to the house in Lynsted Close in Stanhope at 8pm.
The fire was out when crews arrived but they used a thermal imaging camera to ensure it was safe.
The woman was treated for spoke inhalation but is believed to be fine.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
