A MOTHER remains at the hospital bedside of her injured son today after he was struck by a car outside his school.
Liam Shorter, eight, had just left Ashford South Primary School when he stepped into Jemmett Road.
He was taken to Ashford's William Harvey Hospital with a badly broken leg and serious facial injuries, including a broken cheek bone. He has undergone surgery and is said to be in a stable condition.
Today members of his family are waiting to hear whether he has got the all-clear. His distraught mother Angie, 39, has kept a vigil at Liam’s bedside since he was admitted.
The accident has sparked anger among campaigners who have fought for a pedestrian crossing in the road which leads to several schools, nurseries, parks and a college.
