Shocking footage captured the moment thugs attempted to break-in to a family's home in the middle of the night.

A video sent to KentOnline shows several people trying to gain access to the garage of the detached house in The Street, Willesborough in Ashford.

What appears to be four people can be spotted wearing balaclavas and hooded clothing in a bid to disguise themselves during the early hours of the morning.

The incident, captured on CCTV, happened on Thursday in the road directly opposite William Harvey Hospital.

Officers say they are now appealing for witnesses to come forward in a bid to help their investigation.

A spokeswoman said: "Kent Police was called to a report of an attempt being made to break into an outbuilding at 2.51am on Thursday, March 13.

"Officers attended the scene in The Street, Willesborough and carried out a search of the area.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information regarding the attempted burglary should contact Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting 46/41917/25."
