Appeal to attack victim 'dragged into car'

POLICE investigating reports that a young man was seen being bundled into a car and driven away in a Kent town are urging the victim to come forward.

Witnesses reported seeing an argument between the young man and a car passenger and an assault taking place near to the BP garage in Beaver Road, Ashford, at around 2.40am on Saturday.

It is thought the pedestrian was then dragged into the car, which drove away.

Initial reports suggested the car, which was an older registration Peugeot 306, had four people inside.

Acting Det Insp Mark Smith said: "We are taking this report very seriously. If you are the young man who was involved in this argument, please let us know that you are safe and well."

He confirmed police are currently following several lines of enquiry.

The victim is described as white, aged 18 to 19, 5ft 7in tall, with short brown hair. He was wearing a dark hooded top and grey tracksuit bottoms.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 01303 289180.
