Seven years of fund-raising came to fruition when the Archbishop of Canterbury dedicated the new organ at Pluckley church.

It was a memorable date in the 1,000-year history of St Nicholas’ Church.

Dr Rowan Williams spoke of the importance of music in everyday life as well as in the church.

The service itself was filled with singing and organ music.

The church’s old organ packed up seven years ago.

Despite the daunting cost of a new wind organ that ran into tens of thousands of pounds, fund-raising began.

Seven years later the new organ was finally installed.

The church is confident the new organ will last for the next 400 to 500 years, giving joy to very many future generations of church-goers and visitors.
