Two armed men assaulted a staff member as they robbed a newsagent of cigarettes and cash.
They entered Aylesford News and General Stores in Aylesford Place in Ashford and demanded money at about 4.45pm yesterday.
Phone cards, cigarettes and cash were taken after a member of staff was assaulted by the weapon-wielding men.
There are unconfirmed reports that the weapon used was a knife, however, the staff member was not injured in the attack.
A police spokesman said: "One of the suspects is described as being black, of slim build and was wearing a black padded jacket with the hood up and black tracksuit bottoms with a black and white pattern down the legs. He was carrying a dark rucksack with a small white logo.
"The second is described as being Asian, of slim build and was wearing a red balaclava, a camouflage patterned jacket, loose light blue jeans and white trainers. He was carrying a red and blue rucksack.
"A number of enquiries are being carried out including a review of forensic and CCTV opportunities.
"Detectives investigating the robbery would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, saw anybody acting suspiciously in the area or has any information that could assist the investigation."
