Arrests as 150 cannabis plants uncovered in Ashford

A sea of almost 150 cannabis plants has been discovered growing at a property where police arrested two suspects.

Officers raided a property in Sandilands, Ashford, on Saturday (October 7), and seized 147 of the illicit shrubs.

The building contained a large cannabis cultivation operation which sprawled across three rooms of the property.

Kent Police attended the residential address on Saturday morning following a report of suspected criminal activity in the area.

During their search of the property, officers also seized equipment used in the growing of the drug and a bag of white powder they suspected was cocaine.

A 23-year-old woman, from Ashford, was arrested on suspicion of producing cannabis and possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply.

Also from Ashford, a 22-year-old man was arrested for the same offences alongside being concerned with abstracting electricity.

Both have been released on bail until December pending further inquiries.
