Ashford is gearing up for one of its busiest days for years.

Thousands are expected to descend on the town centre next Wednesday to watch the Olympic torch relay's visit.

With large crowds and traffic delays expected, Ashford council is urging people to plan ahead to make the most of the big day.

Detailed maps of the route the Olympic torch relay will take can be seen by logging on to www.ashford.gov.uk/ashfordin2012, allowing spectators to pick out a good spot to watch the procession pass by.

Ashford council is urging people to get to your selected viewing point early; spread out along the route and leave the car at home and either walk to the route, take public transport or car share.

Full details of road closures and restrictions are on the website.

See this week's Kentish Express for a special feature on how Ashford is preparing to welcome the torch relay.
