A man seriously injured in a stabbing at an Ashford house is continuing to recover in hospital today.

The 33-year-old's condition is said to be improving as police appeal for witnesses to the assault in Cryol Road, South Ashford, yesterday morning.

He was airlifted to King's College Hospital in London with "major injuries" to his chest and abdomen.

Kent Police today said his injuries are not life-threatening and he has been moved from intensive care.

Several police cars and ambulances, including the air ambulance, were called to the semi-detached house at 8.50am yesterday.

The property was sealed off while police took statements from witnesses.

Forensics officers were also spotted at the house looking for clues and a police dog was seen to be searching the garden.

Neighbours said the occupants of the house are believed to be a Polish family.

Witnesses reported a stretcher taking the casualty to a land ambulance, which was then driven to the end of the road to the waiting air ambulance.
