Ashford golfer Benn Barham suffered heartbreak in the final round of the Austrian Open, having victory snatched away on the final round's back nine after leading from day one.
In the first round Barham shot an eight-under par 63 before a 66 in the second round and a 67 in round three put him three shots clear going into the final round.
However despite recording a two-under-par final round, Barham was overtaken by Spaniard Rafael Cabrera Bello who fired a European Tour record-equalling round of 60 - 11 under par - to snatch victory by a single shot.
Bello's round included 11 birdies and the 25-year-old would have set an all-time record with a 59 had his 30-foot eagle putt dropped on the 18th.
Barham birdied the 16th to move within one shot of the clubhouse leader but missed an 18-footer on the last to finish 19-under for the tournament.
The 33-year-old is ranked 175 in the world but needs to climb 60 places to save his European Tour Card.
His second place did however land him a windfall of more than (EUROS) 111,000.
