Ashford, black and red, on their way to a first home win of the season against Milton Keynes
Ashford recorded their first home win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Milton Keynes.
All three Ashford goals came in the second half and they were reliant at times on keeper Keir Starley for keeping the visitors at bay.
Ashford have now won three and lost three so far in an inconsistent season.
Against Milton Keynes they welcomed back leading scorer Sam Handley but were missing defensive lynchpin Oscar Hummerstone and skipper Chris Smiths.
The hosts went into the break at 0-0 but fully in control.
Ashford opened the scoring on the counter attack with Handley providing Andy Hill the chance to break the deadlock.
A second goal came shortly afterwards as Ashford swamped Milton Keynes with forward players. A short corner was smashed home by Ewan Hendry to double the lead.
MK then threw everything at Ashford but Starley’s form in goal and some defensive clearances kept the lead intact.
Ashford’s third goal came from Hill, after the keeper had saved his initial effort.
Handley was sin-binned for an accumulation of poor tackles and MK grabbed a consolation from a converted penalty stroke.
