Ashford try to push forward against Sheppey
Ashford’s young side earned their first Kent 1 win of the season with an impressive 49-10 win at Sheppey.
Skipper Pete Walsh opened the scoring after five minutes when Neil French and Joe Lakin combined to break through the Sheppey defence.
Jonathan Murray kicked the conversion and added a penalty soon after before James Fitzpatrick added a try to make it 15-0 after 17 minutes.
Winger Baker added a third try on the half hour and Murray again converted before the home side were temporarily reduced to 14 men.
After the break, 18-year-old Baker added his second try after racing 80 metres to score. Murray added the conversion before notching a penalty to make it 32-0.
Baker completed his hat-trick and added a fourth either side of a Sheppey try, with Murray kicking the conversions to take his personal tally to 16 points.
Sheppey rounded off the scoring with a consolation try.
