Ashford release Doerr and Riley

Ashford Town have released goalkeeper Jamie Riley and striker Andy Doerr.

Riley was signed by manager Steve Lovell from East Thurrock United 12 months ago and was a regular in the side until recently, when he found his place under threat from Seb Barton and Josh Willis. He made 37 appearances for the Nuts and Bolts.

Doerr joined Town towards the end of last season from Herne Bay. After recovering from a broken leg, he made 16 appearances for the club, mostly as a substitute, scoring three goals.

Lovell said: “Jamie was finding it hard as his new job was not giving him enough time to work on his fitness, and I think it has showed a bit this season.

"Andy needs to start playing regularly to get his confidence back after his broken leg and we can’t guarantee that here,

so we have let him go.

"They are two top lads and I’m sure they will do a great job for another team.”
