Leon Camier endured a mixed weekend at World Superbike round six in Misano – and the Ashford rider only had eyes for the negatives in his post-race analysis.
Camier (pictured) headed to the San Marino track looking for much-needed consistency, having endured an up and down start - racking up two podium finishes but being plagued by machinery issues and untimely tumbles.
However, despite his best intentions, the 24-year-old’s weekend became an all-too familiar tale – the Aprilia Alitalia rider crashed out in qualifying and had to start in 16th on the grid but produced an impressive ride to end race one 10 places higher in sixth.
But the race one highs became woes in the second as Camier again took a tumble leaving him with just 10 points to show from his weekend’s work.
As is becoming an increasingly painful story, Camier was also upstaged by his Aprilia Alitalia team-mate Max Biaggi, who helped himself to a pair of second-place finishes in Misano.
Those results leave Camier sixth in the overall standings, 144 points behind runaway leader Carlos Checa, who claimed his third double of the season.
Camier, who is back in action this weekend in Aragon, said: "It was definitely a weekend to forget. I didn’t have a good feeling, not even in race one when I ended up sixth.
"That is a result that is nothing to scoff at. I never enjoy this track. The only positive thing is that at least for this year we won’t be back in San Marino."
