Ashford boss Steve Lovell is pushing forward with his recruitment policy despite the off-field arguments which are threatening the future of the club.
Folkestone striker Peter Williams became Lovell’s fourth new recruit of the summer, following the arrivals of Ian Pulman (pictured right), Tom Bryant and Adam Flanagan, and more are set to follow.
The spat between co-owners Don Crosbie and Tony Betteridge has not stalled Lovell’s squad rebuilding programme at Homelands.
Lovell said: "I just go about the business that needs to be done. I’ve got no control of what goes on off the field and I just have to make sure that when the season starts we’re in a position from my point of view to push forward.
"We’re still trying to get two more midfielders in and another forward. It’s a matter of wait and see.
"There is another month before the start of pre-season and 10 weeks before the season and a lot can happen. We want most of the boys in for pre-season and four signings is a good start for us. We’ve near enough got what we want."
Lovell has already signed experienced defender Flanagan and recently added Whitstable’s front-man Pulman and former Gillingham youngster Bryant (defender) to his ranks.
"We need a bit of competition to spice things up and make sure every angle is covered," said Lovell.
"You can never have too many strikers and Peter is a good lad. He gives us a bit of pace up-front and he’ll fit in nicely.
"He should work well with Mark (Lovell) and Ian Pulman. He will give us a different outlet and I’m very pleased to see him arrive."
