The future of Ashford Town maybe a little clearer following talks involving joint owner Don Crosbie, Supporters' Club vice-chairman Colin Hallybone and his wife Mary, the club secretary.
Mr Crosbie issued a statement afterwards saying: " I met manager Steve Lovell and skipper Sean Ray last week to discuss the issue of the non payment of the players’ wages and publicly apologised to the players. An agreement has now been reached to resolve this matter."
Lovell (pictured) returned from holiday this week and plans another meeting with Mr Crosbie in the next few days
Mr Crosbie thanked supporters for their good wishes during his illness but says he is now on the mend after seven weeks and "fighting fit"
He added: "I have been aware of lots of rumours and speculation about the club. There are differences between myself and Tony Betteridge, my business partner in certain ventures, but these will be resolved at boardroom level and I will not answer to rumours.
"I can, however, confirm that Tony is not interested in pursuing the idea of the Sports Village or contributing to the progress of the football club which has approximately 15 years left of the lease to play at Homelands and this is what I intend to guarantee".
Mr Crosbie also confirmed he won’t release his 50 per cent shareholding in the club to the detriment of the football club. He plans to hold a pre-season Open Forum meeting with supporters in July, to update them on the latest position.
Meanwhile, Dave Boniface has resumed his role as Commercial Manager, while Dave Thurston has taken over as Operations Manager, allowing Mr Crosbie time to "pursue other ways in which revenue can be raised."
