Ashford Town moved out of the relegation zone in Ryman League Division 1 South with a 2-1 win over Eastbourne Borough on Wednesday.

Striker Joe Fuller, pictured, scored both goals in a game where Steve Lovell played his two new loan signings from Blue Square Premier side Ebbsfleet, Steven Springett and Jamie Forshaw.

Left-back Springett, 19, progress through the Fleet’s youth ranks to appear for the first team in last season’s Kent Senior Trophy campaign, while former Scotland under-16 international Forshaw signed for Ebbsfleet in the summer after being released by Southend following a spell in their reserves.

Lovell said: "I watched them play last week and they will do a great job for us. They are young and keen to play football so it will give them the chance to show what they can do.

"We needed to strengthen in a couple of areas. I’m still looking at a couple more people and might have someone else in before Saturday.

"We’ve had a few illnesses and injuries so this gives us more depth."

The new arrivals are also likely to feature in the FA Trophy first qualifying round tie at Bognor Regis on Saturday.

The Rocks are rock-bottom of Ryman League Premier Division with five points from 11 games and Lovell is targeting an upset.

He said: "It gives us the chance to test ourselves against a team from a higher level. People say the league is our bread and butter but we want to go there and get a result."

John Guest’s loan spell from Dartford has ended and defender Matt Bower has left the Nuts and Bolts for Hythe Town.
