Ashford's Leon Camier made storming comebacks in both races during round 10 of the World Superbike Championship at Silverstone – and admitted he was baffled as to where his extra pace came from.
The 23-year-old, pictured, started race one in 16th to register an impressive sixth before climbing more than 10 spots in race two to finish third.
Fellow Brit Cal Crutchlow bagged his first World Superbike wins on what was a fine day for British riders with the top five in race two full of home talent.
Reigning British Superbike champion Camier confessed to having no idea how he achieved such results but said more progress needed to be made if he is to improve his championship position of eighth.
“To get from 16th to third, well, I don’t know what the secret was,” said Camier, who took his overall points tally to 164 after picking up 26 at Silverstone.
“It’s been an awesome weekend, really, and to have started so low down but finish third in front my home fans is just great.
“We had a few ups and downs during both races, as we have through the season really, but I’m pleased with the pace we had and I think that if we can put it together better in qualifying we’d be right up there."
