Athletic club's double victory

ASHFORD Athletic Club scored a rare double with victories in both the men’s and women’s races at the Quest 10k road race.

Men’s honours were taken by Duncan Cochrane in what may be his farewell performance in the event and the women’s race went to the consistent Helen Wheeler from Folkestone.

Cochrane slashed nine seconds off his personal best for the distance but missed out on the course record set last year with a superb run of 32:59.

Second man was Medway and Maidstone Neil Renault 34:07 with Tatsuo Yoshiwara of IEK third with 34:22.

Second and third in the ladies' race came from Deal Tri with Jill Cliff second in a personal best 38:37 and Nikki Barron was third with 38:45.
