Snowdogs charity auction at Ashford International Hotel

More than £150,000 has been raised for charity at a gala auction of Snowdogs.

The event, at the Ashford International Hotel, was held to raise vital funds for Pilgrims Hospices.

One of the Snowdogs - Bagpus - went for £9,000 and another for a cool £15,000.

Bids have come in from the floor and also online.

The 35 colourful painted statues of Raymond Brigg’s Snowdogs - and 19 smaller Snowpups - have been delighting visitors to Ashford since they were introduced in September.

They were part of an art trail around the town which has captured people’s imaginations and brought them their own following on Twitter.

Not everyone has loved the Snowdogs though and one was removed from a churchyard following a complaint it was not in keeping with its historic surroundings.

The event auction is being streamed live on Facebook
