Two inches of snow created hazardous driving conditions for people trying to get to work this morning.
And train commuters were also hit with a reduced service being operated.
With temperatures remaining below zero many roads and pavements were treacherous and Kent Police advised motorists to only travel is necessary.
Chief Inspector Andy Reeves, head of Kent Police Roads Policing Unit said: "Only travel if absolutely necessary. If motorists do have to travel they should take a fully charged mobile phone, food, water and warm clothes with them in case they get stranded."
Parts of Medway and Maidstone have been the worst affected but in Ashford and Folkestone there were also problems.
Chief Inspector Andy Reeves added: "Motorists planning to travel this morning should consider if their journey is really necessary and if they do need to travel to take extreme care, ensure they are prepared and allow lots of extra time for their journeys.
"We have set up a dedicated phone line for the public which they can call for the latest updates on road closures. The number to call is 01622 654321 and this line will be updated regularly."
Due to the adverse weather conditions last night's meeting of Ashford borough council's Planning Committee was postponed.
