Witnesses are being sought today after a young motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash with a car on the A20 in Ashford.

The man, believed to be from Great Chart, and in his 20s, was fighting for his life after being airlifted to hospital following the smash yesterday afternoon.

The man is thought to have sustained head injuries.

Kent Police today said he is in a stable condition in the Royal London Hospital.

The crash, between a red Peugeot 306 and black Kawasaki Ninja 900 motorbike, happened at around 4.10pm at the junction of the A20 Maidstone Road and Sandyhurst Lane.

It left the stretch of road near Potters Corner shut in both directions between Goddinton Lane and Sandyhurst Lane and the Orchard Heights roundabout.

The A20 was closed until 7.30pm while emergency services dealt with the crash and cleared the vehicles.
