Stars of the new Bond film Quantum of Solace had a courier firm to thank for their breakfast butties - because it drove everything from teabags to stunt motorbikes hundreds of miles to the set.

L&D Logistics, of Ashford, sent two vans a day around 800 miles to sets at Lake Garda and Siena in Italy and also to sets in Austria, during 12 weeks of filming.

The drivers, who were keen to take their turn for the job, got to see stars including Daniel Craig and swapped tales with stunt men.

Lorna Tonkin, manager at L&D Logistics, said: "Even when they were in Italy, famous for fine food, their own food was taken down. All the home comforts, from breakfast cereals and butter to tea bags. I understand this was for all the crew and the stars.

"The drivers also took the motorbikes, camera equipment and special effects equipment. They were actually on site and got to know all the stunt men.

"As you can imagine the drivers thoroughly enjoyed it, so they took it in turns to go. It is the nice side of the work. They have all been to see the film already and were quite excited about it."

The firm, which picked up loads from Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, took the Mercedes Benz vans to the sets via car ferries.

L&D Logistics was named Most Promising New Business at the Channel Chamber of Commerce awards earlier this year.

The two-year-old firm, established by Lorna with husband Jamie, has doubled its turnover to £3.5 million in the last 12 months.
