A mother-of-two is furious with Tesco after cutting herself on broken glass in her home delivery bags.
Angela Butcher, 46, from Pluckley, says she was hurt when two shards, about 3cm each, dropped from the carrier bags delivered to her door.
She sliced her thumb quite deeply on a third shard stuck to one of the bags and called the shopping giant straight away to complain.
The company is now looking into the incident but claims Ms Butcher has so far declined to make the glass shards available for further inspection.
Ms Butcher, mother to Brady, nine, and Logan, 12, said she was thankful it wasn’t one of her sons who came across the glass.
"I am shocked that something so careless like this would happen..." - Angela Butcher
She said: "I am shocked that something so careless like this would happen and I’m worried that someone could be more badly injured. What if one of my sons had found it? My nine-year-old often helps me with the shopping."
The full-time carer said she relies on online deliveries because she is waiting for hip surgery and has been recently diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), which causes abnormal collagen in the body.
Her condition can affect many different systems in the body, including the skin, can cause wounds to heal slowly and scar easily and can mean local anaesthetics often do not work on sufferers.
She added: "The broken shards appeared to be covered in something sticky so they were stuck to the plastic.
"The shard cut me deep enough to cause a lot of blood.
"I rang Tesco immediately who said they would look into it and come and collect the glass but I heard nothing more from them. They gave me a £10 voucher code to use but no one has come to pick up the glass.
"I’m now wrongly being accused of refusing to hand over the pieces of glass when in fact, no one came as promised to collect them.
"It is total lack of care on Tesco’s behalf and they’ve shown no real concern for me. I am totally dismayed and disappointed with their attitude. They did not seem overly concerned by the seriousness of the matter. It is completely unacceptable and it is dangerous."
A Tesco spokesman said: “We take safety very seriously, and do everything we can to investigate any concerns flagged by our customers.
"We have offered our customer a gesture of goodwill to apologise, and have encouraged her to share the glass with us, so that we can investigate the issue properly."
