Firefighters called to car blaze on A28 Canterbury Road, Ashford

A car blaze which partially blocked a main road is thought to have started due to an electrical fault.

Firefighters were called to the A28 Canterbury Road, in Ashford, at around 5pm today (February 18) following reports a vehicle was alight.

One fire engine attended and crews extinguished the flames using a hose reel jet.

There were no reported injuries and the fire service had left the scene by 5.40pm.

It is believed the fire started due to an electrical fault.

The A28 was partially blocked in both directions between White Hill and Bilting Lane following the incident and there were lengthy delays in the area.

Stagecoach was also unable to run its services from Bilting and Godmersham towards Canterbury.
