Another crash added to the headache of traffic delays around Kent this morning.
Two cars collided at Hythe Road, Ashford, in an area already clogged up with vehicles from the domino effect of Operation Stack.
Fire crews were called just after 11.30am to the crash between a Nissan Micra and a Mazda.
Both drivers, a woman in the Nissan and a young man in the Mazda, suffered minor injuries and were seen to by paramedics.
An Ashford Fire Station spokesman said: “This was a standard road traffic collision and were were there to make the scene safe.
“But the Mazda’s front axle was snapped so it couldn’t immediately be removed.
“It means that this incident further aggravated traffic delays in the area.”
During Saturday there were long delays on arterial routes in Ashford such as Canterbury Road southbound and Hythe Road eastbound.
It was the knock-on effect of Operation Stack with long queues on the coastbound M20.
Cars usually using the motorway diverted through the centre of Ashford, many trying to use the A20 as an alternate route.
Eurotunnel also warned of delays of up to five hours.
The latest chaos was caused by migrants at Calais trying to get into Britain via the Channel Tunnel.
