Traffic was stopped on the M20 after a vehicle overturned near Ashford.
It happened on the coast-bound carriageway between Junction 9 and Junction 10 earlier this evening bringing both sides of the motorway to a halt, National Highways reported just before 5.30pm.
By 6pm, all lanes had re-opened on the London-bound carriageway but two out of three lanes remained closed coast-bound while emergency services were at the scene.
Drivers were being warned to expect delays and approach with caution.
The scene was cleared and all lanes were reopened by 6.25pm.
A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at around 4.45pm on Sunday to a collision involving two cars between Junction 9 and 10 on the coast-bound carriageway of the M20.
"Officers attended the scene with paramedics where one of the vehicles had overturned and a man was treated for an injury that is not described as serious.
"The coast-bound carriageway was partly closed while arrangements were made to recover the vehicles and the London-bound carriageway was briefly closed while a dog that had left one of the vehicles was recovered."
