Jewellery and cash were taken during a spate of day-time burglaries in Ashford.

Police have now launched an investigation after the four homes were broken into on Tuesday this week.

Officers say they are trying to identify if the four raids are connected.

The first happened at a house in Church Road, Kennington, sometime between 11.15am and 1.30pm.

The owners reported money and jewellery had been stolen.

Another property was burgled in School Road, in Hothfield, sometime between 1.30pm and 4.15pm. Again, cash and jewellery was taken.

The third and fourth raids took place at a house in Park Road, Kenington, between 1.55pm and 5.05pm and at a house in Kingsnorth Road sometime between 2pm and 3.57pm.

It is not known if anyone was home when the thefts occurred, but there were no reports of injuries.

Det Insp Mark Weller said: “These reports are being fully investigated by our officers and at this stage our inquiries are ongoing.

“It is too early to say with certainty that these reports may be linked.”

The officer has advised that residents take action to reduce their chances of becoming a victim of burglary.

His advice includes always locking your doors and windows when out, never leaving keys or valuables on display near windows and never leaving large amounts of cash around the house.
