The owner of a cat whose eye had to be removed after a cruel mutilation is calling on others in Ashford to be on their guard.

Beth Trice, 25, was shocked to find her pet pussycat Princess lying on their doorstep of her home on Sunday with severe damage to her left eye.

The mother-of-three drove straight from her property in Lakemead, near Singleton, to an emergency vet in Maidstone.

Unfortunately the vet was unable to save Princess’s eye, and had to remove it.

Mrs Trice said: “I can’t put into words what it looked like, it was absolutely horrible.

“She has now, at the age of three, got to live the rest of her life like this, because of some sick twisted human who could do such a think to a poor defenceless animal.

“My two youngest children are two and three, so luckily they don’t really understand. But my six-year-old, who has autism, was really upset.

“He’s constantly checking that she’s OK, and is asking lots of questions.”

Mrs Trice is now warning other cat owners in Singleton to be on the lookout. The RSCPA is now investigating the attack.

She added: “We want to share this story to encourage people to be aware of who is around them and also to check your pets every day for injury.

A spokesman for the charity said: “An injured cat which had suffered severe injuries to their left eye was reported to the RSPCA.

“We will investigate the matter to try and find out who is responsible for causing such injuries.”
