Catriona has brains and beauty

Sorry, this video asset has been removed.

A student from Ashford is
proving beauty does not have to come at the price of brains.

Catriona Robson has an abundance of
both curves and qualifications.

Not only has she been crowned Miss
Kent 2010 in the Miss Galaxy series of beauty pageants but she will
soon finish an honours degree in International Relations.

On top of this Catriona is set to
represent Kent next year in the UK finals of Miss UK Galaxy 2010.
Success in this competition could see her fly to Florida to compete
for the world title.

Catriona has entered the pageant in
a bid to prove that beauty does not have to come in a size zero -
in terms of body shape and brain power.

She said: "I am a healthy size 12
lady and I could be no further from the stereotypical size zero
beauty pageant image. I love my curves and want to promote
confidence in women of all ages.

"I am determined to represent the
curvaceous and intelligent women of this country and prove that
beauty should be judged not only on looks but also by personality,
intelligence and actions in life.

"I really feel I can make a
difference with my title and encourage other aspiring individuals
to be confident and follow their dreams."

Catriona is certainly not short on
determination and ambition.

As a teenager she was involved in the
Kent Youth County Council, the UK Youth Parliament and the
Connexions Kent and Medway Youth Board.

She said: "At 14 I had the opportunity
to work at 10 Downing Street.

"I appeared on television with Tony
Blair as one of only 25 young people who were offered the chance of
a lifetime to have their say with the PM ."

Catriona is planning to pursue a
career in politics with her dream job being to tackle world peace
for the United Nations or Amnesty International.

For now she is hoping that entering
the competition will allow her to do some good closer to home.

She said: "I wanted to represent my
much-loved town and give something back to Ashford in any way I
could by helping to represent local businesses. Part of my role as
Miss Kent 2010 is to make appearances at all types of events so I
am asking anyone interested in my coming along to any sort of event
to contact me."
