A man has been airlifted to hospital after suffering serious leg injuries following a crash involving two cars in Charing Hill this morning.

Emergency crews were called shortly after 8am to the scene on the A252 between Faversham Road and the village of Charing itself.

Fire crews were called to free the man from the wreckage of his car, and he was airlifted to the Kings College Hospital in London after suffering serious leg injuries.

Meanwhile a woman and a teenager were pulled from the other car by ambulance crews. The teenager is believed to have suffered abdominal injuries and was taken to the William Harvey Hospital.

The woman is believed to have suffered potential spinal injuries and was also taken to the William Harvey Hospital.

Kent Police and KCC Highways had closed the A252 in both directions. A police spokesman said officers have now left the scene, while KCC Highways are clearing up an oil spill on the road.
