A town centre cinema has been shortlisted for the Cinema of the Year award.
The Picturehouse cinema in Elwick Place is one of the latest additions to Ashford, being officially opened last December following a £75 million construction project.
Now it's been nominated for the Cinema of the Year gong at the Screen Awards 2019, going up against five other nominees from across the country.
Others in the running are the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square, Cineworld in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Penzance's Savoy Cinema, The Little Theatre Picturehouse in Bath, and West Norwood Library and Picturehouse.
The winner will be revealed at a ceremony in London on Saturday, November 30.
Speaking of the nomination, Ashford cinema manager Ben Hammond said: "We are thrilled to be nominated for Cinema of the Year. I am incredibly proud of everything we have accomplished here as a team.
"I knew we were creating something special right from the start and we continue to achieve great new things every day. We all have our fingers crossed for November 30 and hopefully, we can win the award this beautiful cinema and fantastic team deserves".
Despite its short history, and the controversy over none of the eight adjoining retail units being operational yet, the Elwick Place scheme was shortlisted for an architectural award in May.
The cinema has already had prestigious guests including Princess Helen of Romania, who unveiled a statue of her great-great Grandmother in honour of her being born at the nearby Eastwell Manor.
