A round of clear-the-air talks had the desired effect as Hythe Town bounced back from their Boxing Day nightmare with successive derby wins either side of New Year’s Day.
After watching his side demolished 8-0 by neighbours Folkestone Invicta, manager Scott Porter, pictured, vowed some of his squad had played their last game for the club.
However, clear-the-air talks at Hythe’s next training session preceded a 3-1 win at Faversham on Saturday, before Hythe chalked up their fifth home win 48 hours later, coming from behind to beat Ramsgate 3-2.
Porter said: "We had a long chat after the Folkestone game, as a team and individually. People got a few things off their chest, me especially. I told the players what I expect from them.
"To go and get two wins against two Kent sides is great credit to the boys."

A third straight win would equal Town’s best sequence of results since winning promotion into Ryman League, Division 1 South and edge them closer to the play-off places.
With a fully-fit squad, Porter must decide whether to restore Brendon Cass to his starting line-up after the striker came off the bench to score the winner at Ramsgate.
