Folkestone Invicta boss Neil Cugley hailed the impact of new signing Stuart King after the striker’s debut hat-trick for the club in Saturday’s 6-1 friendly win over Badshot Lea.
The former Herne Bay forward was joined on the scoresheet by fellow strikers Jimmy Dryden, who grabbed two, and James Everitt in a convincing win against a side who play a level below Cugley’s Ryman League Division 1 South side.
Cugley said: "There’s no such thing as a bad hat-trick but it was some good quality finishing. He looked good but the forwards all scored, which is all you can ask for."
On Tuesday night, Invicta drew 1-1 at Chatham Town with Dryden netted the first-half equaliser.
Cugley is set to name keeper Roddy Hayward in goal for the clash with his former club, Kent League Premier Division side Canterbury City, at the Buzzlines Stadium on Saturday – a game arranged in place of the originally scheduled match with Canvey Island, who now face Southend.
Cugley said: "Jack Delo is away this weekend and we’ll give Roddy a chance to play against his old mates and see what he can do."
The Invicta boss was also running the rule over a former Lincoln City reserves player at training this week. The midfielder’s arrival was not linked to the return of former stalwart Scott Lindsey, who has taken a couple of training sessions while he looks for a new full-time role after leaving the Imps at the end of last season.
