VICTIM: Barmaid Rachel Cheesewright was killed in the crash in October

THE drivers and passengers of two cars could hold vital clues about a road crash involving a police car that led to the death of a young woman.

Rachel Cheesewright, 29, of Guernsey Way, Kennington, Ashford, died after her Ford Fiesta collided with a marked police Skoda on an emergency call on the A28 near Bethersden in October.

Now members of the the Independent Police Complaints Commission, which is managing the investigation in to the crash, said it needed to speak to the people who were in two cars on the same road at the time of collision.

IPCC commissioner Mehmuda Mian Pritchard said: “Investigators are trying to trace the occupants of a Peugeot 306 and a Vauxhall Corsa that may have been in the area at the time of the collision.

The Peugeot is believed to be dark blue and was being driven by a young man, with possibly two or three male passengers.

“The Corsa was also beiong driven by a young man and he appeared to know the people in the Peugeot.”

He continued: “While neither vehicle was involved in the collision itself, the IPCC is keen to identify the occupants as they may hold vital information that could assist the investigation in to this tragic incident.”

Miss Cheesewright, a mother of one, who was due to marry long-term partner Lewis Whitehead next summer, had just left the Bonny Cravat pub in Woodchurch - where she was a barmaid - when the accident happened around 11pm on October 22.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call the IPCC on 020 7166 3216 or Kent police on 01622 600970.
