Coins fired at bus from catapult

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after two coins from a catapult were fired at a bus causing a window to shatter.

The empty bus was being driven down Singleton Hill, Ashford, and was approaching the junction of Tithe Barn Lane when it was shot at twice at around 12.30pm on Saturday, September 8.

Two one-penny coins were found near to where the windows were shattered and it is thought these were used to fire at the bus.

A police spokesman said: “This was extremely irresponsible and could have caused a serious accident and injury. It is only a matter of luck that there were no passengers on the bus at the time.”

Anyone with information about who was firing the catapult is asked to contact the Area Crime Management Unit on 01303 289180 quoting crime ref: 6769. Alternatively if you wish to remain anonymous call Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
