Drivers have faced gridlocked traffic in Ashford today.
Temporary traffic lights on Station Road caused traffic to queue in and around the town centre, as well as delays caused by Operation Brock coming into force on the M20.
The contraflow system between Junction 8 for Maidstone and Junction 9 for Ashford is designed to keep traffic moving if there is disruption to services across the English Channel.
But the work overran, causing long delays on the motorway this morning.
A fire at the former Kent Wool Growers site in Tannery Lane is also causing traffic to build up on Station Road, as it is partially blocked due to the fire.
Traffic was also heavier than normal on the A2070 in both directions between The Boulevard and A2042 Bad Munstereifel Road earlier today.
People arriving into Ashford from the A251 during rush hour complained of standstill traffic into the town centre and along Canterbury Road.
It took one driver 40 minutes to get from Eastwell Manor to Somerset Road during her commute to work this morning.
"Ashford is broken," said the driver who did not want to be named.
"It's very frustrating, the traffic was crawling along. I left extra early today but I was still late for work."
Stagecoach has made changes to its bus route due to emergency gas works - which are being carried out by SGN near Beaver Inn pub and Marinos Fish Bar.
The 2A bus will not serve Kingsnorth Road. Alternatively, passengers are advised to use D line services and change at ASDA.
