Thieves followed a 91-year-old man home, stole his wallet and raided his bank account.

They watched the victim as he used a cash machine, tailed him in his car and lifted his wallet outside his home.

South Kent Police spokesman Rosy Alexander said; “This is an appalling incident with those responsible seeking a soft target.”

Two men watched the victim as he drew money from a hole-in-the-wall at Sainsbury’s in Simone Weil Avenue at about 10.30am on Monday, March 23.

He was then followed to his home in Willesborough by one of the men and a woman.

They spoke to him outside, asking for directions to the motorway, and pickpocketed his wallet.

His account was then raided at three local cash machines. The thieves could only take small amounts because of daily withdrawal limits on the card.

Police have issued CCTV images and given descriptions of the two suspects.

One is said to be 5ft 9 to 10in with thick black, short, untidy hair. He had stubble and wore spectacles and a black or dark waist length leather jacket and jeans.

The second man was slightly shorter and had short, dark hair.

He wore a dark baseball cap and a light track-suit top with Adidas-style twin stripes on the arms.

He also had light combat-style baggy trousers and dark trainers.

The bespectacled man is believed to have been one of the pair that followed the victim home, using a black Ford Focus. There is no description of the woman but both are said to have spoken with foreign accents.
