A fire service spokesman said crews were called shortly after 4.30pm to a three-vehicle collision, which left one person trapped.

"Crews used hydraulic rescue equipment to remove the door of one vehicle, allowing paramedics space to assess the casualty who was then helped to safety and further treatment," they said.

"Kent Police was also in attendance, and National Highways were called to deal with an oil spill resulting from the crash.

"Our operations were complete at 5.05pm."

The crash caused long delays in the area, including queues on the Cloverleaf roundabout, but it has since been cleared.

Roads in Willesborough and Ashford were busy as motorists found alternative routes, according to traffic information provider Inrix.

The road was closed earlier but has since reopened and one lane is shut from McDonald's heading towards the M20.

It is not yet known if anyone is injured.

Police and the ambulance service have been contacted for more information.
