One driver, who got stuck on the motorway for 30 minutes just before 9am, says the car looked to have aquaplaned in the rain on the London-bound side.

Debris was seen on the carriageway.

Police and traffic officers were called to the scene and cars were initially held.

The Peugeot has since been moved to allow other drivers to get by, but there are still delays in the area.

A police spokesperson said officers were called shortly after 8.30am.

“Officers attended the scene on the London-bound carriageway of the M20 near Junction 10,” they said.

“A man reported an injury and was treated by the South East Coast Ambulance Service. The road was clear by around 10am.”
