Shannon Fattore shows a solid defence during his knock of 77
Ashford slipped down the Shepherd Neame Division 1 table after suffering a four-wicket defeat to Folkestone in their derby encounter at Stacians Park.
The home side won the toss and chose to bat first and it seemed to have been an inspired decision as the first four batsman all recorded 40 or higher, with Shannon Fattore top scoring at number three with 77.
However, their middle order failed to build on the good work as Gary Sutton, Peter Shields and Craig Buckham all went cheaply and Ashford finished on 233-5 after 50 overs.
The pick of the bowlers was Michael James who took 2-69, including the vital wicket of Fattore.
In reply Folkestone got off to a decent start with Ashok Kadam recording the highest score of the game with 78, but after Daniel Clark went for a duck it was left to Ali and Andy Bray to hit 46 and 21 respectively to ensure their target was met with an over still to bowl.
Mohsin Raza was the best of the bowling attack with figures of 2-43.
