Police, ambulance and fire crews help distressed man in Ashford

Emergency services were called to a busy road to aid a distressed man.

Residents in Ashford reported seeing police, ambulance and fire crews near a footbridge late last night.

The air ambulance was called to the incident on the bridge over the A2042 Avenue Jaques Faucheux, as ground crews and other services temporarily closed the road.

Onlookers described seeing a mass of blue lights driving up to the footbridge, near the Riverside Inn in Torrington Road.

Thankfully, officers were able to safely recover the man, who was taken to hospital.

An ambulance spokesperson said: "Ambulance crews attended Torrington Road, Ashford yesterday evening shortly after 9.40pm.

"We responded to concerns for the welfare of a man.

"The man was assessed at the scene before being taken to William Harvey Hospital."

Police and Kent Fire and Rescue also confirmed that they attended the scene, and that the man is now in the care of medical professionals.
