One fire engine attended the scene in Bethersden Road and crews moved the barbed wire out of the way and helped the dog to safety.

Speaking about the incident on Facebook, the fire service said once safely released, crews “gave her some TLC” before finding her a home for the night.

The pooch was then handed into the care of a veterinary centre, where she was looked after and scanned for an identity chip.
